This isn't about her, this is about you. And please, don't act as if you haven't nosed your way into these types of situations before. Need I remind you of a certain party you threw out of the blue?
[ sorry... she's never going to let that go............. ]
Well, hopefully you'll be able to talk it out with the parties involved — without slamming Vergilius, that is, because I just know it's going to come bite me in the ass somehow.
And you deserve some peace too, I guess. Wings know how much we need it more than ever rn.
Nah, this was something I was gonna do before you even told me about their situation. The Vergilius thing was just something that I've been meaning to talk to you about for a while now that happened to be related; there's really nothing going on between us, and everyone around us should know. If he can't believe it, that's on him and them.
He is pretty funny though. In ways. Sorry in advance! I make no promises.
[ especially now that he knows about?? him and malkuth?? wowie his thoughts are going 100km/sec. ]
… Unless you being nice is harbinger for you taking me out yourself before I can start righting any wrongs, then we might have a problem.
You're just lucky Vergilius and I aren't allowed to kill people here........ Especially now we know that LILITH would've reprimanded people with more than just a slap on the wrist.
Just... don't tell this to the other people from the City. Not that it matters here, but I'm already breaching contract just bringing this up.
Back home, me and my coworkers can be revived from death. I can't tell you the exact details how because of NDA, but that's where my kneejerk reactions usually come from since we can just beat each other to a pulp knowing that our deaths won't stick.
Honestly… I figured. But if you hadn't mentioned it was part of your contract, I'd have just continued assuming cheating death was a regular thing in the City.
I only mention this because Miss Gebura has been openly blasé about having died before. So LILITH's coincidentally rounded up those of you that have?
I... think so. Her group were supposed to be not only dead ages ago, but also out of bounds from the City. They were kicked out to the Outskirts because of the whole Library fiasco.
It's just weird, the more I think about it. But I guess I should be lucky that I'm able to live long enough to get out there and find my purpose, right?
It's hard for me to talk about in detail. Sorry about this tangent. The point I was trying to make was that the people from the City think the way we do because of our experiences. We may have gone through different horrible things, but the City just... encourages it, I guess. And getting to know other people here made me realize that it could've been a lot better. We just got the shortest end of the stick, is all.
It's fine. Not like I've ever stopped you before, yeah? I'm not really doing much at the moment anyway.
But if it seemed like I was judging you, I wasn't. It was more an observation. When you've got people from all over, there's no guessing what circumstances they must've come from. Only… you've gotta adjust some time.
You can teach an old dog new tricks! You just have to be persistent enough. Sure, the City encouraged certain behaviours and you guys got the short stick there, but I'd like to think this place is different—at least, until it proves otherwise. Even then, not living life while we can sounds like a recipe for regret, doesn't it?
Time, huh. I don't even know how much time we have in this world before we get yoinked out before we know it...
But I know I'm being pessimistic again. It has been fun, living my life the way I could never have dreamed of back home. It's the same case for you too, isn't it?
Exactly why you gotta be a little annoying sometimes. I've been here for less, yet there's already been so many people that have passed me by. You can't befriend everyone, but doing so halfheartedly isn't the answer, either.
[ … as for her question: ]
… My life really wasn't that bad where I came from, you know. It's more or less the same as what I do here.
I know that. Which is why I have that time limit. Which you passed anyway.
[ bestie............ :/ ]
And you say that, but the state of your homeland and how you act around the topic say otherwise. You have to know by now that nothing gets past me, Elysium.
Think about all the fun we could've had before then if you didn't have that arbitrary pre-requisite?
Just kidding.
And, yeah. … There's that. But like I said, there's not much I can do as a single guy. Not for the time being. Until then, I'm at an impasse. If only you'd let me take you to Siesta to begin with; I doubt you'd have this perspective now… Still, it's not like my work with Rhodes Island isn't fulfilling, either. I'm surrounded by incredible people who are working to better people's lives, day by day.
You didn't have to take me back to your hometown either if you didn't want to, you know. I gave you an out at that time and you didn't take it.
[ SO DON'T BLAME IT ON HER tf.......... ]
Although, is that really all there is? In our company, we just signed up for our own selfish interests. Altruism just seems alien to me unless there's money involved, because that's usually the case.
You did. But I pitched soooooo many different places and you still chose it despite everything. Who could say no to that?
[ too late!!! ]
… Anyway. That doesn't have to be the last time I show you around. One of the wonders of travelling is being able to experience and see things for yourself to form your own opinion.
How about you tell me if you've changed your mind after everything's said and done? Give it a fair chance.
It's... just as you said last time. I chose that place because it has a connection to you.
[ so. yeah. ]
It's going to take more than a trip all around the world to change my view on certain things. I don't even know why you're going this far for me without expecting anything in return.
But if you insist... I'll think about it. Maybe next time we won't just stare from afar.

No excuse! Life's more fun rolling with the punches.
At least, I know about it now. I'm not going to let it get more out of hand than it already is.

Even Miss Gebura's warmed up to me 😊
You guys gotta relax with those hair trigger impulses!

Besides, it's all we've ever known and... [ sigh ] I guess you deserve to know this one tidbit about me.

Someone has to raise the next generation of journeymen!
But I told you, didn't I? That you owe it to me to tell me about your experiences.
It's a plan, Ishmael.

That depends if you can handle what I'm about to tell you.
And it's not just a plan anymore, but a promise. [ ... ] I'll see you around.
